Public transportation in Szeged

Public transportation generally

Szeged is an easily walkable city, however buses, trolley buses, and trams are all available means of transportation. Bus tickets can be purchased almost anywhere in town, in kiosks, in shops, and even on busses. All conference participants receive a city map in their conference bags.
For using a bus, tram or trolley bus one needs to purchase a valid ticket. Tickets have to be validated on the vehicle. One ticket is valid for one journey only (single way on the same bus). Upon changing vehicle, one needs to validate another ticket.

Public transportation changes during the tram line reconstruction

Due to the current reconstruction of the major public transportation lines, there are some changes to the location of stops and ways of transportation. For further info, please refer to the map below:

Taxi

We recommend Radio Taxi +36 62 480 480 The expected fare is between 1000-1500HUF betwen the venue and the conference hotels.

Parking

The interval of paying parking is from 8 am to 5 pm on weekdays. Validation of the parking ticket has to take place immediately after parking your car at the designated area. Instruction to the validation process can be found on the parking ticket. The parking zones are distinguished by colours (green, yellow, blue).

Public transportation from Szeged railway station

Useful to know: In Szeged, bus tickets can be purchased almost anywhere in town, in kiosks, in shops, and even on busses.  All tickets have to be validated on the vehicle.

When travelling on the same public transport line you can use the same validated ticket even if you have to change vehicles due to line reconstruction.


a)    Travelling from Szeged railway station to Hotel Novotel

-       Go to the tram stop in front of the station.

-       Due to the current reconstructions you will find buses instead of trams. Get on Bus number 1 and get off at “Anna- kút”. Here you need to get on Tram number 3 or 3F, or Tram number 4. Get off at Hotel Novotel.

 

b)   Travelling from Szeged railway station to Hotel Tisza

-       Go to the tram stop in front of the station.

-       Due to the recurrent constructions you will find buses instead of trams. Get on Bus number 1 and get off at “Centrum Áruház”. Walk about 50 meters in the direction of the tram line and turn to the right. Go along Kiss Ernő street until you get to Széchenyi Square. Walk straight ahead crossing the square and you will find Hotel Tisza on the corner.

 

c)    Travelling from Szeged railway station to Hotel Forrás

Due to the current reconstruction of the major public transportation lines, all participants staying at Hotel Forrás are warmly recommended to take a taxi to the Hotel.

 

d)   Travelling from Szeged railway station to Károlyi dormitory

-       Go to the tram stop in front of the station.

-       Due to the current reconstructions you will find buses instead of trams. Get on Bus number 1 and get off at “Anna- kút”. Go to the tram stop on Kossuth Lajos avenue and take Tram number 1 until the stop at “Vásárhely Pál út”. The tram stop is right in front of the dormitory
